Frequent Asked Questions
Helping parents understand the experience, purpose, and journey of the Youth of GSB Summer Camps.
General
If your town is currently not listed, you still have a couple of options:
You may choose the nearest available camp location while registering your child.
If you are interested, you can also take the initiative to host a camp in your town by forming a small local team.
Youth of GSB will provide the complete structure, content (developed through Adhiṣṭhāna), and guidance to help you organise the camp smoothly.
This is a growing initiative, and we hope to expand to more towns every year with the support of the community.
The camp focuses on three key areas:
GSB Identity & Awareness – helping children understand who they are and where they come from, through stories, history, and traditions.
GSB Ethos – introducing values and qualities often associated with the community such as integrity, spirituality, enterprise, and social connectedness.
Our Language & Knowledge – building familiarity with Konkani and basic Sanskrit, along with exposure to food, practices, and knowledge systems rooted in our culture.
Together, these ensure a balanced learning experience of identity, values, and practical cultural connection.
Yes, lunch will be provided during all camp days.
More importantly, food at the camp is not just about nourishment—it is also a learning experience. Children will get an opportunity to taste and become familiar with authentic GSB cuisine and flavours, helping them connect with traditional food practices in a simple and enjoyable way.
This adds a cultural dimension to the camp, making food a part of their overall understanding of GSB lifestyle and heritage.
The camp in your town is being organised by a group of committed GSB individuals and organisations from your locality, ensuring strong local involvement and familiarity.
Youth of GSB is facilitating the initiative by:
Providing the overall camp structure and schedule
Supplying the core learning content developed through Adhiṣṭhāna
Organising the Grand Jamboori at Mangaluru, where campers from all towns come together
This model combines local ownership with central guidance, ensuring both quality and community connection.
The camp is currently designed for children from 5th to 9th Standard, keeping in mind their level of understanding, attention span, and ability to engage in discussions and activities.
Many sessions involve:
Group discussions and expression
Concept-based learning (culture, identity, values)
Collaborative tasks and performances
These are best suited for children slightly older, who can grasp, reflect, and participate more actively.
That said, we completely understand your interest. As this initiative evolves, we do plan to design separate modules for younger children in the coming years so they too can benefit in a way that suits their age.
No, there is no participation fee for attending the camp.
However, the local organising team may request a contribution towards travel expenses to Mangaluru for the Grand Jamboori on the final day.
This will depend on your town and arrangements made by the local team, and the details will be shared in advance by your camp coordinator.
Yes, you may participate in the Grand Jamboori.
However, registration is required, and the Jamboori registration details will be shared through your local team. This helps the organisers plan food and logistics effectively for everyone attending.
You will also need to coordinate your travel arrangements with your local team to ensure smooth participation.
We truly appreciate your willingness to contribute.
